Sometimes, you just need flexibility.
When your schedule is packed, your commute is long, or life simply doesn’t cooperate, online continuing education can feel like the easiest way to stay on track.
But here’s the part most people don’t think about until it’s too late.
Online CE isn’t a complete solution.
It’s a piece of the bigger picture.
You realize your renewal deadline is getting closer. You’ve knocked out a few hours here and there. Maybe you’ve bookmarked a course to come back to later.
And then you start wondering…
“Can I just finish everything online and be done with it?”
It would be convenient. It would be efficient. It would be easy.
But that assumption is where many licensed opticians run into problems.
In Georgia, continuing education isn’t just about checking a box. It reflects how you stay current, connected, and aligned with the standards that shape your work every day.
Relying only on online courses can quietly create gaps.
Gaps in awareness. Gaps in connection. Gaps in how the profession is evolving around you.
And those gaps don’t always show up immediately.
They show up later. In conversations you feel out of sync with. In changes you didn’t see coming. In opportunities you didn’t know existed.
Online CE gives you flexibility when you need it. In-person education and professional engagement give you context, clarity, and connection.
Together, they create a more complete path forward.
Through OAG, online CE becomes part of a larger system designed to keep licensed opticians informed, supported, and connected to their profession.
The online courses available through the Opticians Association of Georgia are provided through an approved education partner and align with Georgia requirements for online continuing education.
These courses allow you to earn eligible CE hours in a format that works around your schedule.

Online continuing education in Georgia is limited.
Licensed opticians may complete a maximum of 5 hours online, and those hours must come from approved providers.
In addition, renewal requirements include attendance of a Georgia Law class and ABO and NCLE hours.
Online CE plays a role, but it does not replace the full renewal process. If you want to review the full rule directly, you can access it HERE
If you’re unsure how your CE plan aligns with current requirements, reviewing Policies, Laws & Professional Standards or Policies & Laws can help you avoid issues later.
This isn’t about doing more.
It’s about staying aligned.
But it shouldn’t be where you stop.
If you’re trying to make sure you’re fully covered for renewal, or you want a clearer picture of what’s required, your next step matters.
Explore Continuing Education to see upcoming opportunities, or visit CE Conference Registration to plan your remaining hours.
If you’re earlier in your journey, including students or apprentices, this is also a chance to start understanding how continuing education fits into long-term professional growth.
So does staying connected to your profession.
